The 9-hole "Pebble Creek" course at the Pebble Creek Golf Course facility in Le Claire, Iowa was designed by Michael Benkusky, ASGCA, and opened in 2005. The course distance ranges from 3,419 yards off the Back Tees to 2,478 off the Forward Tees so it offers a fair challenge to every level of golfer. If you enjoy large greens with slopes, valleys, and side-hill putts this course will be of great interest to you. This is not your average 9 hole course and will have you coming back for more play.
The course is perfect for corporate outings and can handle groups of almost any number. Call the golf course for details at 563-221-3885.
Hole #1
You can either go over the pond or go around the pond. Most people aim for the “blue box” off the tee and settle for 120 yards to the green. To clear the pond direct to the green from the Back Tee you must carry the shot 290 yards and aim 30 yards to the right of the pond for a direct line to the green, good luck on that. From the Forward Tee to go directly at the green you must carry 175 yards over the far point of the pond or aim for the "blue box" and clear the water at 150 yards. The green has some tricky slopes on it making a birdie tough to get.
Hole #2
This hole features a downhill blind tee shot with out of bounds on the left and right. At the top of the hill you will have 163 yards to the green. Be sure to land on a level spot there and you will have a medium iron to the green which is guarded by a sand trap on the right and a small creek 70 yards in front of the hole. The green breaks in a variety of directions so look carefully.
Hole #3
A challenging par 3 with out of bounds on the right and the woods hiding Pebble Creek on the left. A fun hole and your best chance for a hole in one.
Hole #4
A tight par 5. On your tee shot there are woods on the right and left plus Pebble Creek on the left ready to wash your ball. All you have to do is right-center your tee shot and then on your second shot play the hills on the right and most of the time your ball will roll onto the fairway. This will leave a straight shot to the green making this hole a good possibility for a bird. For a reference point, the cart path is 190 yards from the green.
Hole #5
A scenic par 5 with a blind tee shot that is best positioned a bit to the right, do that and your ball will end up in the middle of the fairway. Hit a great second shot and you will be left with a short iron to the green. The green is quite large and guarded by traps on two sides. A fun hole where birdies are rare. For a reference point, the bottom of the hill at the path is 210 yards to the green.
Hole #6
A very hard hole from the Back Tees and only somewhat easier from the Forward Tees. Woods on both the left and the right with a wide fairway that slopes to the left. A good tee shot will leave you a short or medium iron to the large raised green. It is much better to be short on your approach shot then long and whatever you do, do not miss to the left.
Hole #7
A challenging par 3 and if the hole is on the left you will have to carry your tee shot to the hole since a bank guards the left part of the green and stops any ball from rolling onto the green. If the hole is on the right you can bring in your tee shot right to left and two put from there. Birdies are rare. This is a perfect hole with a large green for a closest to the pin prize on your outing.
Hole #8
There is a premium on a straight drive here since there are woods on the right and a pond on the left lurking. If you go right and avoid the woods you still must deal with the giant tree guarding the green from any shots coming in from the right. A rogue branch hanging left has digested many balls. A straight tee shot and you will have a medium iron to the green with virtually no landing area except for the green itself. A great second shot will give you a birdie putt.
Hole #9
Woods on the left and woods on the right but there still is plenty of room for an errant tee shot to land safely. There are two fairway traps and another three traps guard the green. But still, a decent tee shot and you will have a short iron to the green and miss all that trouble. A nice par hole and usually plays as the easiest hole on the course. Enjoy
